This marks the Young Company’s sixth trip to the competition. Their first place finish marks the sixth consecutive time that the Academy has placed in the top three. With this victory she also received a $1,000 scholarship to Southern Utah University. Hayley Grey-Hoehn of Brookfield placed third with her performance of “Portia” from JULIUS CAESAR.
“This competition consistently offers our young actors an extraordinary educational experience,” said John Maclay, First Stage associate artistic director and director of the Young Company. “First Stage is incredibly proud of these students. CD Review - Fancies of a Random Heart by Annie B and the Vagabond Company

I confess, after receiving a copy of Annie B. and the Vagabond Company's latest CD - "Fancies of a Random Heart" - I have listened to it again and again. As lead vocalist, Annie B. expertly fronts a band with a tight, hard rocking sound. With every track, I am reminded of a band that perfected its unique style and sound working the clubs and festivals. Annie B. and the Vagabond Company EXPLODE in front of a crowd. ABVC managed to capture that same energy and raw sound on the "Fancies of a Random Heart" studio CD. "Fancies of a Random Heart" is also a great showcase for Annie B's powerful, edgy and yet endearing vocal style.

"No God No Master" homecoming at 2012 Milwaukee Film Festival

Even before seeing it, I can tell you that this is my kind of movie! "No God No Master" was filmed almost entirely on location in Milwaukee, WI and features local actors and crew.

During a recent telephone conversation with director Terry Green, Green stated that he chose to film in Milwaukee because parts of the community are reminiscent of the streets of New York back in the 1920's.  Milwaukee is a natural stand in for New York in this period film, according to Terry Green.

Green cast the film with talent from both Los Angeles and Milwaukee.  Attendees at the
Milwaukee Film Festival Spotlight Presentation of No God No Master will instantly recognize such noteable local actors as Jim Pickering, Lee Ernst and Dan Mooney - to name only a few.  The first screening of No God No Master is on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 7:30pm at Milwaukee's Oriental Theatre.  For director Terry Green and his cast and crew it is a long awaited and important homecoming to the city where it all began.
